Callie Crouch

American Spirit

It was half burnt
in a Ziplock taped
to your fridge, labeled
“next drunk cigarette”
and I saw
myself there, somewhere
between what you
started and
couldn’t finish,
what you put between
your lips but
couldn’t stomach
sober.
